Facilities: Staff restaurant for 250 Head Office Personnel and a Conference Centre within magnificent grounds, incorporating a 9 hole golf course.

The Challenge: The two facilities whilst serviced by the same large organisation operated separately. Food and staff for the conference centre were delivered by: a central production unit at Heathrow, and the staff restaurant from a limited on-site kitchen. The contract was tendered and awarded to Artizian in March 1998.

Artizian's business proposals for HDS were based on the restructure of the existing kitchen to accommodate servicing the conference centre and staff restaurant. This maximised flexibility for both areas and enabled a fresh food focus, a deli bar and dramatic improvement in menu development and innovation. The payback for HDS's investment was anticipated to be 2 years - the reality was 1!

The Result:

• Sales uptake has increased by 37% although tariffs reduced.
• The gross profit achievement increased to 45% and is currently 52%
• HDS's overall subsidy has reduced by 20%
• Top class fresh food in the conference centre has doubled its profitable external business.

In Summary: Our client has expressed in writing his appreciation for achieving an eating out experience in what was previously an institutional restaurant.
